Nancy O'Dell's radio career started as a reporter and anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle beach, South Carolina. Later, she was a morning news anchor and the crime reporter at WCBD TV. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston, about how the Charleston police acted in DUI cases with leniency resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger directive for state authorities. In the year 2000, Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell the Best Report of the year Award for all South Carolina media. O'Dell was then employed by NBC's Miami-based station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of co-anchor for the weekend. Additionally, she is an anchor on Dateline NBC and NBC News Today. She has covered such events including The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as well as co-hosting a number of pre-show arrivals to The Emmys and the Golden Globes. She also hosted Miss America's Pageant as and the Miss Universe Pageant.
